Professional Services & B2B

Client portals and case management for firms that bill by the hour.

Law, accountancy, consulting, recruitment, property and other B2B services run on engagements, documents and billable hours. We build the client portals, workflow tools and integrations that make that work repeatable. Quite often it ends up as a product in its own right.

Constraints we build around

  • Client confidentiality, conflict checks and matter-level access controls
  • Integration with practice management, time and billing systems and CRM, with SSO through Entra ID or Okta
  • GDPR, professional-body rules and whatever security requirements your clients impose, from ISO 27001 to SOC 2 questionnaires
  • Document management, versioning and retention policies
  • An audit trail on approvals, sign-offs and client communications
  • Multi-tenant design when one platform serves many clients

What we hear

What people in this sector tell us on a first call.

  1. 01

    Client experience stuck in email

Onboarding, document requests, approvals and status updates all go by email with an attachment. Clients can't see where things stand, so they ask, and partners answer the same questions every week.

  2. 02

    Delivery that depends on individuals

Each engagement runs slightly differently depending on who's leading it. Templates, checklists and know-how live in personal folders, so quality and margin vary from team to team.

  3. 03

Five systems bought separately and never connected

Practice management, time recording, billing, CRM and document management all came from different vendors at different times. Reporting means exports and pivot tables, and revenue leaks through the gaps between them.

  4. 04

    Pressure to productise

Clients expect software-like service and predictable pricing. Firms want to package their repeatable work into tools they can sell, and find that building a product is a different job from giving advice.

What we build

The kinds of systems this sector tends to need.

  • Client portals and secure collaboration

Onboarding, document exchange, e-signature, approvals and engagement status in one branded place, with SSO, granular permissions and an audit trail behind every action.

  • Engagement and case management

Workflow tools built around your own methodology, with its stages, tasks, checklists, deadlines and reviews, so every engagement follows the same path and the people who need to see progress can.

  • Internal platforms and knowledge tools

Resourcing, pipeline, know-how libraries and search across precedents and prior work. Where there's a clear case for it, that includes retrieval-augmented LLM assistants over your own documents.

  • Practice management, billing and CRM integration

Connecting time recording, billing, CRM and document systems so each piece of data is entered once and reporting comes from one reconciled source.

  • Productising services into software

Turning a repeatable service (a compliance review, an assessment, a calculation) into a subscription product with its own onboarding, billing and support model.

Questions

Questions that come up before a first project.

Ask us directly
Can you integrate with our practice management and billing systems?

Yes. We've connected portals and workflow tools to practice management, time recording, billing and CRM systems through their APIs, or through database and file interfaces when the vendor has nothing better. Single sign-on through your existing identity provider comes as standard.

We want to turn a service into a product. Where do we start?

With a short discovery. We work out who buys it, what the repeatable core is, what has to stay tailored to each client, and how it will be priced and supported. From there we scope a first release that a small group of clients can use, then improve it from what they tell us. See our SaaS product development service for how we structure this.

How do you handle client confidentiality and security reviews?

Matter- or engagement-level permissions, encryption, audit logging and data segregation are built into the first release. We've filled in plenty of client security questionnaires and supported ISO 27001 and SOC 2 evidence, and we can line up hosting and data residency with whatever your obligations are.
